Enhancing Blackhorse Way for People and Wildlife
Thanks to grant funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund/Pembrokeshire Sustainable Communities, we have been able to build on the success of the Bankers Walk improvement project by extending enhancement works into Blackhorse Way.
The project included clearing overgrown weeds, removing dead and damaged vegetation, and carrying out general tidy-up works to transform the appearance of the route. New low-maintenance shrubs have also been planted, creating a more attractive and sustainable environment.
These improvements not only make the area cleaner, safer and more welcoming for residents and visitors, but also provide valuable habitats and food sources for birds, insects and other pollinators.
The enhanced route offers an inviting pathway down to the Millpond while supporting local biodiversity and helping to create a greener community for everyone to enjoy.
Pembroke River Rally 2026
On the 8th of August 2026 Pembroke celebrated the 31st annual River Rally!

20th Anniversary of Pembroke Town Murals
On the 3rd of February 2026, Mrs Jeanne Lewis and her daughter attended a special presentation at Pembroke Town Hall to mark the 20th anniversary of the Pembroke Town Murals. The benches, gifted by Pembroke Town Council, were presented in appreciation of the artwork created by Jeanne and her late husband, George Lewis, whose contribution continues to enrich the Hall two decades on.
The Mayor of Pembroke, Councillor Gareth Jones, joined by fellow councillors and volunteers from Pembroke Museum, presented Mrs Lewis with a Certificate of Appreciation and a bouquet of flowers in recognition of the couple’s lasting artistic legacy. Councillor Jones went on to say Pembroke is extremely fortunate — and deeply privileged — to be the home of this collection. Visitors who step into the Town Hall often pause in admiration, struck by the scale, the detail, and the storytelling woven into every panel. Many have said that these murals are unlike anything they expected to find here. They leave with a greater appreciation not only of our history, but of the talent and dedication of those who captured it so beautifully.
Pembroke Museum has been awarded full accreditation status by the Welsh Government.
Pembroke Town Council is pleased to announce that Pembroke Museum has been awarded full accreditation status by the Welsh Government. To qualify for the award, museums must meet standards on how they are managed, on the services they offer and how they manage their collections.
Situated in the Town Hall’s old Magistrate’s Court, the museum took its first steps a decade ago as a project of Pembroke Town Council’s Regeneration Committee, which was set up in 2013 to undertake projects to enhance the town. Pembroke & Monkton Local History Society was asked if it could undertake the task and they agreed to give it a go.
Said Society Chairman Linda Asman (who is also the Museum Hon. Curator):
“We literally had to start from scratch with no collections at all. However, what began as a local history exhibition of display boards of photographs and stories soon attracted donations of artefacts and the museum began to grow and grow. Thanks to generous community donations we have been able to develop some very interesting and important collections relevant to the history of our town. It is to the credit of our dedicated volunteers that we have now met nationally agreed standards for UK museums and that we are recognised at the same level as Wales’ larger and professionally staffed museums.
This is no small achievement for a museum, which is entirely volunteer run. I should also like to thank Emma Hartley our Museum Mentor for helping me navigate the application process and develop the necessary professional practices and procedures.”
Town Clerk Suzie Thomas commented:
“Pembroke Museum is a great example of a community project which we are proud to support and which has enabled Council to offer an important service to the town. I should like to congratulate the volunteers who have worked so hard to achieve this award.”
The Museum is closed during the winter months.
