A campaign to make Pembroke safer
Defibs for Pembroke is a community focused campaign aiming to ensure that both emergency defibrillators as well as the skills needed to use them are accessible to all living in and visiting Pembroke.
In a little over a year, we have managed to raise enough money to purchase and install 4 AEDs (automated external defibrillators) with a goal of purchasing more in the future.
This has been possible due to the support of community organisations, such as Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir; local businesses such as The Black Rabbit Social Club and PaddleWest. As well as the support of Pembroke Town Council.
What is a Defibrillator?
A defibrillator is an emergency medical device that is used to send electrical pulses through to the heart.
Why might you need to use a Defibrillator?
If someone is having a cardiac incident such as a heart attack, then the defibrillator can be used as part of emergency first aid to shock the heart back into a regular rhythm.
Where can you find your nearest defibrillator?
If you are in an emergency then it is important that you call 999.
The operator can direct you to the nearest defibrillator to your location.
But if you just want to know for peace of mind then Defibfinder is a free, easy-to-use website that shows on a map all of the registered defibrillators in your area.
