Update:
Unfortunately, Pembroke was not successful in our bid to be shortlisted for this competition. Out of 398 applicant towns, the shortlist was narrowed down to only 15.
However, the work that was put into the application, as well as the significance of taking part, still hold value, and thus we invite you to look over the videos and images below and take some time to take in our beautiful historic town.
Could Pembroke be the UK Town of Culture 2028?
What do you think? Pembroke Castle sits at the heart of the town. The streets follow its presence, the views lead back to it, and for centuries it shaped what this place was. It started as a Norman stronghold, later becoming something more significant again as the birthplace of Henry VII.
Through the Civil War it was fought over, held, and reclaimed. After that, the town carried on changing around it, from a working port to what it is now. Do you visit Pembroke Castle regularly? Whether it’s for a walk around history, or its annual events?

Postcard from Pembroke
As part of the Town of Culture competition, we have been asked to make a Postcard showcasing the town of Pembroke. The image on the front of the postcard was submitted by a resident of the town through a call to action on our Facebook page.
The ultimate destination for this postcard, as well as all of the others submitted across the UK, is the National Museums Liverpool as part of their permanent collection.
